Biggin Hill Security Requirements

As you may know, all members of Alouette that require an air-side pass must first read the Biggin Hill Security Awareness document which you can download here.

Video Evening - The Vulcan

Our next video evening is scheduled for Wednesday 6th August and will feature the Avro Vulcan. This aircraft has been very much the focus of attention in recent weeks due to obtaining its permit to fly and display authorisation.

Check out our new Weather Page!

Our new weather page is an easy way to find out what the current weather is like at Biggin Hill. Of course its no substitute for getting a full forecast from the Met office but it will give you an idea what's going on at our home base.

Click on the links and you can get more information including wind speed and direction, a local forecast and infrared satellite view.

Give it a try, click on the Weather link on the left to view it now.

New! Saturday Evening Food at the Club .

Kim Clancey will be rustling up another culinary delight for us all but this time it will be on a Saturday evening. The first one will be on the 19th July starting at 6pm, come along and enjoy some good home cooking - and maybe a drink or two at the bar. There will be a small charge of £3 per head for the food and it would be much appreciated if you could email Kim by clicking here to confirm numbers.

Congratulations!

Many congratulations to student Pilot (or should we simply say Pilot?) Ying Li who passed his Skill Test at Alouette on 6th May. Ying did his cross country to Lydd and Earls Colne and, shortly afterwards with the weather obviously on his side (!), completed the PPL(A) Skill Test. We all look forward to flying with you Ying.

New Flying Rates
We are sorry to have to inform you that, as from 1st May 2008, we are having to increase the flying rates for both our aircraft.

Fuel represents a significant component of our flying costs and, as everyone is no doubt aware, the price of fuel has risen drastically over the last few months. We are compelled therefore to set the following flying rates with effect from 1st May 08:

Aircraft Rate per Tacho Hour Approximate Equivalent Hourly Brakes on/off Rate (0.78 tacho)
G-BMTO £90 £70
G-BYEA £110 £86

Aviation is (unfortunately) an expensive hobby but despite these increases Alouette still offers some of the best value flying available – it’s one of the benefits of being part of a member run organisation.

Landing fees
It is with regret that from 1st May 2008 Alouette landing fees will rise to £20 and Touch & Goes to £8. This is due to increased rates charged by the airport.

Fly Away Dates
Only one left now!
